Detection of Koi Herpesvirus in Koi Cyprinus carpio in Taiwan

چکیده
Mass mortality occurred in 2-year-old koi (fancy carp)Cyprinus carpio in Taiwan in 2002. Affected fish did not show any external signs except swollen gills. The consistent histological changes were observed in the gills; hyperplasia of epithelial cells, infiltration of eosinophilic granular cells and fusion of the secondary lamellae. Nega tively stained nucleocapsids were icosahedral and 112±1 nm in diameter. Koi herpesvirus (KHV) was detected in the diseased fish by PCR using specific primers for KHV, and sequence of the amplicon showed a 99% identity with the published data. This is the first report of KHV infection in Taiwan

An unusual koi herpesvirus associated with a mortality event of common carp Cyprinus carpio in New York State, USA.
Koi herpesvirus (KHV), a highly contagious and lethal virus that affects both koi (Cyprinus carpio koi) and common carp (Cyprinus carpio), was isolated in 1998 from two outbreaks of koi suffering mass mortality in New York State, USA, and in Israel. The disease had been described as early as 1996 in Europe. In July 2004, this virus was found associated with a mass mortality event in wild common...

Koi herpesvirus (KHV) infection is associated with high mortalities in both common carp (Cyprinus carpio carpio) and koi carp (Cyprinus carpio koi) worldwide. Although acute infection has been reported in both domestic and wild common carp, the status of KHV latent infection is largely unknown in wild common carp. To investigate whether KHV latency is present in wild common carp, the distributi...
متن کاملThe Current Problem : Koi Herpesvirus (khv)
Koi herpesvirus (KHV) is a pathogen agent that predominantly affects common and koi carp (Cyprinus carpio and Cyprinus carpio koi, respectively) causing disease and mass mortality in farmed and wild populations of these breeds. Following the first reports of KHV in Israel and Germany in 1998, the geographical range of this disease has become extensive. The disease has been spread to many countr...

Koi herpesvirus (KHV), also known as Cyprinid herpes virus 3 (Cyprinid 3) is lethal disease in common carp and koi (Cyprinus carpio). Two different groups (KK and RK) were infected KHV by intraperitoneal injection. Fish for gene expression analysis were sampled at 0 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h and 72 h post infection (p.i). The results showed that two immune related gene, Interferons (INFs) ɑβ and Inte...

Carp edema virus (CEV), the causative agent of 'koi sleepy disease' (KSD), appears to be spreading worldwide and to be responsible for losses in koi, ornamental varieties of the common carp Cyprinus carpio. Clinical signs of KSD include lethargic behaviour, swollen gills, sunken eyes and skin alterations and can easily be mistaken for other diseases, such as infection with cyprinid herpesvirus ...
